The Yaguas, a Beautiful Indigenous Community full of culture and cosmovence, are located in the "Indigenous Rescue Santa Sofía and the Progress" within the Colombian Amazon Forest.
Its meaning comes from the Quechua Yaguar or Yawar, which means "blood or blood color," so they have the expression and custom of painting the body and face with achiote and in their self-perception Yagua, they see themselves as "red." In his internal etymology his name is Ñihamwo, which means, "we, the people."
The shelter is made up of 80 families with approximately 850 people among babies, children, young people, women, men and older adults. The reflection of his cosmovence is in the animist myths that mean that his belief will that each being, every natural element and object has a soul.
For the Yaguas, the element of Water is very important, as it is considered a source of Life, they also conceive the universe as a series of organically linked worlds.
Unfortunately, over the years, the Community has been vulnerable by various factors; therefore, it has left its customs and its ancestral wisdom to be forgotten, it has ceased to survive by its own means.
For this reason, the Almaga Foundation is in the process of generating these projects of adaptation and improvement to the current equipment, giving solution to the problems that live in the community.
